Football Representatives 2017

Congratulations to Kayla Goodwin and Isla Allen have been named in the U16 Waibop team to play in the National Age Group Tournament later this year in Wellington.

2017  Secondary Schools Football Tournament
During tournament week our SHGC football girls did us all proud, on and off the pitch. The team was unbeaten with 6 wins and a draw, and ended up placing 5th in convincing fashion, with a 4-0 victory over Western Springs in the 5-6 play off.
The team had an astonishing goal difference of +23, scoring 24 goals, and only conceding a single goal.  Unfortunately for us, that goal was in a 1-1 draw against Waikato Dio, and we came out on the wrong side of the ensuing penalty shootout (4-2).  As you will know, sports can be brutal, and some days the dominant team doesn’t end up with the result, but the girls showed good heart and character to lift themselves after that game, and go on to win their next two matches. Sacred heart are very proud of the team and how they fared at tournament this year.
Tournament Results:
Goals Scored: 24
Goals Conceded: 1
Goal Difference: +23
v Te Puke: Win 8-0
v Wairarapa: Win 4-0
