The Chanel Shield is a competition in oratory, scripture reading, debating and drama between the five Catholic secondary schools in the Hamilton diocese: Aquinas College (Tauranga), Campion College (Gisborne) John Paul College (Rotorua), St John’s College, Hamilton, and Sacred Heart Girls’ College, Hamilton.
The inaugural challenge (which we won) was held at SHGC in 1989.
On 30 and 31 July we hosted the challenge and won again – first equal with John Paul College. Our previous win was in 2006!
We came first in the Junior Speech (Elizabeth Jees), Senior Poetry (Rose Abbott) and Junior Bible Reading (Raivenne Sarmiento) – see the full results here.
