Celebrations of Success
We acknowledge students who achieve at the highest level in co-curricular activities and celebrate their success in formal hui and assemblies. Co-curricular activities include Sports, Cultural, Academic, Special Character and the Arts.
Achievement in Sport
Criteria for School Badges and High Performance Sport.
Colour Awards and Gold Bars are awarded for the current year only. The current year runs from the previous year’s Sports Awards up to the current year’s Sport Awards.
Colours White
Awarded to a student who has been a representative at the provincial level.
For example: Has been selected and represented Waikato, North Island Selection (Rowing do not have Waikato Reps). The student must represent the College in this code if offered.
Colours Maroon
Awarded to a student who has been a representative at the provincial level.
For example: Has been selected and represented Waikato at a North Island sanctioned event (e.g. Athletics and Swimming), for students who have received a top three placing at a national event. The student must represent the College in this code if offered.
Colours Black
Awarded only to Year 13 students. This student must have represented the College in a particular code, at the highest level, for at least three years (unless the school does not offer the code). The student must have been a positive role model for her peers and have followed/ abided by the school Sports Policy. If a student starts their schooling at SHGC in Year 12, eligibility is at the discretion of the TIC, Sports Co-ordinator, DP Learning and Engagement.
Gold Bars
Awarded to students who have represented New Zealand in their particular code.
This student must have represented the College in this code if offered. This award supersedes the Colours Award if the athlete was also a representative at the provincial level.
