Sacred Heart offers a varied and exciting curriculum that suits the needs of all its learners.

Specialist tuition in English language is offered within the curriculum at no extra cost. Students are tested and placed in appropriate classes to continue to develop their English language skills. Classes in English Language are very small, and a homework club is also on offer for the girls. A wide range of subject choices is available, and the International Dean supports each student’s academic pathway.

Academic Support

International Students meet regularly with the International Student Manager to track progress and discuss future pathways.  With plenty of sport, cultural activities and service and leadership opportunities available, we encourage our international students to achieve academically and to develop a sense of involvement and participation in the College and New Zealand’s way of life.

With small numbers and excellent staff, our international students enjoy a high rate of success in continuing on to, and succeeding at, tertiary level.

National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA)

The National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) is New Zealand’s official secondary or high school qualification. The NCEA system has three levels. Each level is usually studied in each of the three final years (11, 12 and 13) of secondary schooling, though students can study across multiple levels. Our examination results for NCEA are well above the national average at all levels.

A Study in New Zealand document (produced by the NZQA) is available to help international students understand NCEA – see the links below.

AKO is our mentoring/coaching programme for all students. Check out a brief overview of AKO (PDF – 4205 KB), the video and the AKO website.
