Congratulations goes to one of our teachers, Belinda Cooper, who is an exceptional role model to our students as a ‘lifelong learner.’ Mrs. Cooper is not only our Leader of Learning for Languages, but is also the coordinator of our Duke of Edinburgh programme here at Sacred Heart. She recently completed the NZQA Level 5 Bush Instructor qualification. This was the product of 15 long months of incredibly hard work, made up of many hours of both field and book work.

Belinda is also the recent recipient of a Certificate as an Experienced Award Leader. Key attributes required to receive this award include good organisational and communication skills, competent user of the Award’s online resources including the Online Record Book, coordinating with other Award Leaders and volunteers in our school as well as working with external Outdoor Pursuits providers to ensure that the requirements of the Award are met by the participants, actively growing the Award and helping participants develop a self-directed Award programme.

Our Duke of Ed students benefit immensely from Mrs Cooper’s expertise and dedication to this programme. Find out more about the programme here.
