Sophie Ridgway competed at the Halberg Games this month held at King’s College, Auckland and did extremely well in the swimming division. She came 2nd in 100m freestyle, 4th in 50m freestyle, 1st in 50m backstroke and 2nd in 25m butterfly. Young adults from all across New Zealand who have physical disabilities take part and compete to win scholarships to then compete in the Paralympics later on in life. Sophie is keen to pursue her love of swimming and attend the Halberg Games for the next five years until she turns 21 to better her abilities and compete for a place in the Paralympics.
