NZSS Gymsport Championships- Tumbling
3 of our students went to compete and represent our school on Sunday 10th September at the NZSS Gymsport Championships in the Tumbling discipline. The girls, Kelsey Nahna, Ashlei & Kyla Turner are local gymnast who regularly compete in the Elite section of Tumbling, which requires the girls to complete a complex routine, which is then marked by the judges and graded accordingly.
The NZSS Champs saw 18 girls from across the country come to compete and try and grab the title for themselves and the school they represent.
Ashlie and Kyla were able to place 12th equal and Kelsey 14th overall, the competition was dominated by Senior gymnasts and our girls performed very well, holding their own against the Senior students. Ashlie and Kyla placed 1st equal out of the Year 9’s with Kelsey a close 2nd.
Congratulations girls, awesome effort from a great weekend. Look forward to seeing your progress in the near future!
NZSS Gymsport Championships -Rhythmic
Katelyn MacDonald also competed at the Championships in the discipline of Rythmic, A very confident and talented gymnasts who was also competing against athletes who are at a higher level then herself, however that didn’t prevent Katelyn from receiving a 5th Overall placement.
Congratulations Katelyn, great to see you pursuing your passion for gymnastics and representing our school for the 3rd year at the NZSS Championships.
