SHGC Waste Audit

Last week the Environment team completed a full waste audit of  the school. Our Environment leader Keira McGregor and a group of volunteers, aided by Adrienne Grant from Enviroschools, sorted through, weighed and documented the day’s 80kgs of collected waste to see what the main components of our school’s waste is.

Armed with this knowledge the team can then go about figuring out how we can reduce, reuse and recycle the waste we produce. This action is a response to the Pope’s call in Laudato Dei to care for our common home and this mission is possible.

Thanks to Mrs Brebner and Ms Kanji for pitching in to organise this mammoth task and to the girls who stuck their hands up to be involved this important mission and improve our school’s well – being, even if it’s not the most pleasant thing to do!
