On the 24th August, 71 ensembles converged on the Waikato University Performing Arts Centre filling three concert chambers from 8:30am – 7:00pm. SHGC’s Sacred Sisters of Soul Orchestra performed for the 1st time – gaining a SILVER medal and prize (generously donated by Shearers Music Works) for “Most Diverse and Inclusive Group”.

Our combined SHGC/SJC Concert Band and Drum Corps gained SILVER awards and the combined SHGC/SJC Jazz Band, the final performance of the festival, took out a coveted GOLD AWARD!

It was an incredible day and a testament to our fabulous students and their amazing, dedicated tutors. Special thanks to Stewart Stanbridge (Jazz Band/Concert Band), Peter Skandera (Sacred Sisters of Soul), Brian Vyle & Clive Burnell (Brass), Adrian Hayward (Drums) and Martin Griffith (Cello).
