Music

The Music Department is a hive of industry with students opting to use the practice rooms before, during and after school in preparation for exams and performances. Our Worship Band meets regularly to support Liturgy and Mass both at school and in the wider community. Many other groups rehearse before school, after school and also during weekends. Groups and activities include:

  • Barbershop Chorus (‘Heart Attack’ and Quartets)
  • The Big Sing Project (all-comers choir: ‘Sacred Sisters’)
  • Performance Troupe (vocal ensemble)
  • Chamber Music ensembles
  • Jazz Band
  • The Saints Concert Band
  • Guitar Ensemble (The Sacred Sisters of Soul Orchestra)
  • Drum Corps
  • Smokefree Rockquest
  • Country Club
  • High Achievers Competition
  • Arts Showcase
  • The Lunchtime Concert Series

Students compete in regional and national music festivals and competitions, receiving gold, silver, and bronze medals: The Waikato Band and Orchestra Festival; Young Singers In Harmony; Trinity and Royal regional competitions and the National Hook, Line, and Sing-a-long competitions.
