At this year’s Winter Sports Tournament, we’ve seen some magic moves, spirited play and solid teamwork in all three codes: Football, Hockey and Netball. Our players upheld the mana of our College, with respect, and commitment to their team, coaches and managers.
Our 1st XI Hockey team finished the tournament with a solid win! Playing against Taupo-nui-a-Tia College, our two senior players, Lola and Opal, scored goals in their final game for the school. And to go out on a 4-1 win, with the team finishing 7th overall in the tournament, is an excellent result! Well done, Team Hockey.
Our Premier Netball team played Marist in the semifinal – it was an extremely physical game. The team never gave up and played hard to the end, reducing the points difference with a loss to Marist 31-42.
Our Football 1st XI claimed the silver at the Maurice Hulme tournament in Rotorua. A hard-fought game ended in a 1-0 loss to Whangarei. The Silver means they’ll compete at the next level in 2023. And the best kept secret (until the end of the game) was that the winner of this year’s tournament’s ‘Golden Boot’ is our own Stevie-Lee with 12 goals – 5 goals ahead of her nearest rivals! While it’s not all about goal-scoring action and winning – but we do like a win – it’s also about the passion and drive to do our best – Age Quod Agis!
