Our People

Director of Sport: Mark McAlley

I have taught in primary and secondary schools for over 20 years in New Zealand and overseas. I completed a teacher training degree in Waikato before obtaining a Sports and Leisure Certificate at Tauranga Polytechnic.

Sport has always played an essential part of my life, and after the early years of playing rugby and cricket, it has led me to a career in officiating and coaching to a high level. This includes coaching a Waikato women’s rugby team. My role at the College allows me to share my skills and experience with others, unlocking potential and transferring my passion for sports to students.

The satisfaction I take from seeing students gain confidence, develop skills, embrace teamwork and show leadership skills from participating in sports is why I love this role.

Sports Coordinator: Erin Seager

My diverse experiences across various sporting codes, both as a participant and as a parent supporting my children, have inspired me to volunteer and contribute to these sports at a broader level. I have a genuine passion for all sports and for encouraging others to participate. I firmly believe that involvement in sport extends beyond physical activity—it fosters community, enhances wellbeing, and creates a sense of belonging.

Netball is my greatest passion, and I was privileged to serve as a regular umpire for SHGC before joining the Sport Development team. With 22 years of experience coaching, managing, and umpiring across various school levels and club netball teams, I have developed a comprehensive understanding of how to effectively establish and maintain successful netball programmes.
