Performance is an integral part of our arts program. Internal and external productions, events, and competitions allow us to showcase our cultural, musical, and artistic talents. All performance groups and ensembles are proud ambassadors for the school, and continue to achieve regional and national success.
Teachers are committed to their students and are known for going the extra mile to develop their artistic potential in dance, design, drama, music, painting, and photography. This is supplemented by a busy extra-curricular program and a thriving Itinerant Music scheme – which allows students to be tutored by professional musicians on an assortment of instruments.
Our art, dance, and drama students have access to modern and vibrant teaching/work spaces, including an industry-standard black box theatre.
Oral speaking skills are strengthened through drama, debating, public speaking, and assorted competitions. These grow the confidence of our ākonga and prepare them for life beyond the school gates.
The five Catholic Colleges in the Hamilton Diocese compete in the Chanel Shield, an annual public speaking, debating, drama, and scripture reading exchange.
Many of our students have found pathways to careers in the arts and many have returned to our departments as student teachers and interns.
