Our students learn about and experience competition, teamwork, discipline, and physical fitness and use their initiative through sport. Individuals and teams are encouraged to set goals, strive for their personal best, and embrace college pride.

Our sports calendar includes inter-school competitions, internal school House events and personal fitness programmes. Our teams also participate in local, regional and national secondary school sports tournaments. The College encourages participation through playing, coaching, and developing leadership skills as referees and officials in managing teams.

We aim to build and maintain lifelong exercise habits in an emotionally, socially and physically secure sporting environment.

Most sports at Sacred Heart are coached or managed by the College volunteers. Some teams have paid coaches.

We are fortunate to have specialist high-performance sports staff who provide additional training to students whose sights are set on regional and national representative selection. Students are provided programmes covering skill, endurance, mental game and strategic play. Individual strength and conditioning programmes can be created for athletes when required.

Socially, joining a sports team is an excellent way for students to make friends, and at Sacred Heart Girls’ College, there are over 25 sports we facilitate to suit all levels of ability.
