Our Pacific Island students hail from different cultural contexts and languages, yet the connection of values forms our Sacred Heart Pasifika community.

Performances celebrate annual language week events and festivals with other local schools.

Music and dance are rhythmic patterns that involve singing, clapping, tapping, clicking, and slapping hands together! Simple instruments of drums, sticks and shells accompany the colourful, vibrant performances leaving audiences joyful.

Pacific dance incorporates traditional music filled with drums and other Pacific instruments, which are accompanied by beautiful hand movements and elegant steps. Each movement tells a story of past ancestors: love, harmony, family and strength. To respect these dances students wear their traditional cultural attire and jewellery, filled with vibrant colours. Through dance, music and cultural attire students are able to celebrate and embrace their Pacific ancestry at Sacred Heart.

Te Hui Ahurea Cultural Festival

The performances of the day from across our Waikato Catholic Kaahui Ako schools were outstanding. The atmosphere was buzzing and it was great to have so many whānau and friends onsite to support our tamariki.
