Our First XI Football team made history by qualifying for the nationwide tournament for the first time. Travelling to Nelson, they delivered a stellar performance, securing 6th place overall. Getting to this tournament was a testament to our girls’ hard work and dedication. They have worked so hard to reach this milestone and it was a superb finish for our outgoing Year 13s.
Our Rock Climbing team showed great skill and determination in Mount Maunganui. Top climber Molly James finished in 15th place, contributing to the team’s impressive overall performance.
Our Equestrian students continue to impress at the annual national tournament in Taupo. Team 1 finished 6th and Team 2 54th overall, out of a gob smacking 600 competitors and 90 teams. Congratulations to Year 12 student Maya Matthews, who achieved 1st place overall for the highest points received at the event. What an achievement!
The Hockey team also made us proud, finishing 9th place. They only lost one game throughout the week, a close pool match decided by a single goal. Notably, the team they lost to went on to win the tournament, highlighting the strength of our girls’ performance.
Netball faced some challenges this year. Although the team did not start as hoped, their perseverance and teamwork were evident, leading to consecutive wins. They concluded the tournament in 22nd place in B Grade, showcasing their resilience and team spirit.
Our students embodied the core values of our Kura, balancing competitiveness with enjoyment as they faced off against 20,000 competitors from all over the country. To our Year 13s, thank you for representing our Kura with such resilience and passion. This was your last Winter Tournament Week, and we know you made it one to remember.
We couldn’t finish this wrap-up without thanking the parents, coaches, and horse wranglers who allow our students to pursue their goals in their chosen sport and put in endless hours outside of their jobs to support, lead, and cheer from the sidelines. We appreciate you!
