Women’s Rugby is quickly growing in player numbers in New Zealand secondary schools. A quarter of the playing population is now female, with a 30% increase in registered players since 2017.

Sacred Heart has fielded teams for the past four years and has progressed in skills and successes each year. Rugby is one of the college’s most robust sports.

In the 2022 season, Sacred Heart Rugby joined the inaugural Chiefs Manawa (Super 8) Competition after winning back-to-back Waikato Secondary School 1st XV titles. We compete against Hamilton Girls High School, Tauranga Girls College, Rotorua Girls High, Taupo-nui-a-Tia College, Sacred Heart New Plymouth and New Plymouth Girls High.

The Sacred Heart U15 10-aside rugby team plays in the Waikato Secondary School Competition on a Wednesday after school. This grade gives our Year 9 & 10 players a chance to develop their skills and play the game they love!
