Muay Thai is a ‘timed sport’ with a heavy reliance on quick and powerful counter-attacks, unlike regular kickboxing which is mostly boxing based. It equips our young women with skills in self-defence and self-confidence. Muay Thai Kickboxing / Self Defence was introduced into Sacred Heart in 2019. Lead Trainer at House of Pain, Ethan Shepp, instructs the girls in classes at the College.
I think that it is important to know how to protect yourself. Muay Thai taught me how to feel safer and more confident. I found it easy to talk to my training partners. I didn’t feel like I was being judged, and the instructor was there to help me – Katelyn
