If you enjoy swimming in open water or the pool and are looking for a personal challenge and some competition, then look out in Term 1 for opportunities to represent Sacred Heart Girls’ College. Our Swimming Sports Day is an all-school House competition. There will be competitive swimming and non-competitive events worth house points.
Those wishing to represent the school in secondary school swimming competitions (NZSS & Wai SS) must participate in competitive events to qualify. Students affiliated with a local club taking part in swimming, synchronised swimming and diving are eligible. The clubs provide coaching and help to their members. The internet will provide you with contact details and information regarding these clubs.
Uniform: A Sacred Heart Swim Cap can be purchased from the Sports Office – $10.00. Sacred Heart tracksuit or PE Gear can be worn to and from events.
Fees: For all competitions, individual fees apply based on the number of events a student enters. The Code Coordinator will advise payment details.
Age Groups: For School competitions:
Junior – Under 14
Intermediate – Under 16
Senior – Under 19 (as of 1 January in the competition year).
Swimmers whose birthday falls on this date fall into the younger age group. NB: There are only two age groups for all NZ Secondary School events/championships (Under 16 = Juniors, Under 19 = Seniors).
